The cyclone ‘OCKHI’ located at about 600km to the west of Colombo, which is moving further away will have its effects felt while it gradually lessens, the Met Department said.
However, showers or thundershowers are to occur over most parts of the island.
Heavy falls above 100mm can be expected at some places in the Northern, North-central, Uva, Southern, Western, Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces.
Fairly strong gusty winds up to 50kmph can be expected in the Western, Southern and Sabaragamuwa provinces, the Met Department said.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
