A Singapore national has been arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) with over 7 kilograms of jewellery valued at over Rs 43 million.
The arrrest was made at 02:30 am by officers of the Police Narcotics Bereau attached to the BIA.
At the time of the arrest, the suspect was found to be in the possesssion of 229 bracelets, 175 gold chains, 88 necklaces, 16 bangles and six pendants.
The suspect along with his possessions has been handed over to the Sri Lanka customs for further investigations.
