President Maithripala Sirisena will be re-appointed as Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) Chairman after the conclusion of the presidential election, party Acting Chairman Professor Rohana Lakshman Piyadasa said.
The SLFP's Executive Committee, last month decided to appoint Prof. Piyadasa as Acting Chairman, after Sirisena declared he would remain nonpartisan in view of the presidential election on November 16.
The President, whose term will end after the election, recently declared that he prefers engaging in active politics rather than retiring, indicating his eagerness to continue to remain in politics.
