Six individuals who had solicited bribes to act as intermediaries of the Department of Motor Traffic were arrested yesterday (Dec 30).
The arrest had been carried out near the Department based on information received by security units.
The Motor Traffic Department's Commissioner-General Upali Jayasekara confirmed that no department officers were among the suspects arrested yesterday.
Transport Service Management Minister Mahinda Amaraweera recently had instructed officials to apprehend such individuals who solicit bribes to assist the public in obtaining services of the Department.
