Six Indian nationals arrested from Chilaw
Six Indian nationals who had been working illegally in Sri Lanka in violation of immigration laws have been arrested from Chilaw.
Police said the suspects were arrested during a raid at a hotel in Chilaw yesterday (30). They did not possess valid visas to work in the country.
The local manager of the hotel was also arrested by police for employing the Indian nationals at the hotel illegally.
The arrested Indian nationals are aged between 22 and 38 years while the hotel manager is a 28-year-old resident of Mundalama.
The suspects were produced before the Chilaw Magistrate's Court, where they were ordered to be kept in remand till April 2. Chilaw Police are investigating.
