The Samagi Jana Balavegaya (SJB) has objected to counting preferential votes of United National Party (UNP) Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe, pointing out that the cut-off mark for counting preferential votes was not reached
The Secretary of SJB, Ranjith Maddumbandra, issuing a statement said that the UNP is desperately trying to count the preferential votes of Ranil Wickremesinghe despite the fact that UNP had not reached the cut-off of five percent votes in the Colombo district.
He said that they condemn the move of the UNP as it is unconstitutional as the Constitution clearly states the cut-off mark for counting preferential votes. Therefore, he said they have complained to the election commission as well as taking legal action against the move.
