The Government has disbursed Rs.49.17 billion among 22,957 entrepreneurs and business entities within two months of the launch of Enterprise Sri Lanka’ programme, the Finance Ministry announced today (Thursday).
The highest number of 11,807 loans has been provided by the Bank of Ceylon while the Regional Development Bank has issued 5,612, the National Savings Bank 2,983 and the People’s Bank 1,402 and the balance by other commercial banks.
The Government launched this ambitious initiative on July 21 with the aim of grooming 100,000 entrepreneurs by 2020 through 16 concessionary loan schemes with more incentives provided to encourage female entrepreneurship.
The 16 loan schemes consist of 11 interest subsidy loan schemes and three refinancing loan schemes inclusive of two financial and non‑financial schemes have been introduced under this programme. (Bandula)
