Sri Lanka is to trade tea with Republic of Iran in exchange for agriculture
related equipment, Trade Ministry said.
This decision was taken following a discussion between Minister of Trade
Bandula Gunewardena and the Iraninan Ambassador here.
The Ministry said among the topics discussed were the high demand for
Ceylon tea in Iran and possibility of exchanging agriculture equipment that
are not manufactured in Sri Lanka.
Iranian government is to assist in establishing vocational training institutes
here and the income earned from the institutes to be deposited to the
Mahapola scholarship fund.
An agreement is to be signed between the Chamber of Commerce, Tea
Board and the Republic of Iran.
