The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Museum was declared open by Sports Minister Harin Fernando at the SLC headquarters today (Feb 20).
The museum which would be open from 9 am until 5 pm on weekdays would provide the general public an opportunity to view some historic souvenirs belonging to the SLC.
Entrance for school students will be free of charge, the SLC said.
Some of the artefacts on display include trophies which were won by the national cricket team including the 1996 ICC World Cup and the 2014 ICC T-20 World Cup tournaments.
Also on display is a special plaque comprising names of cricketers who have led the national test, ODI and T20 teams. Special souvenirs that mark certain historic achievements of the team have also been made available for public viewing.
Higher officials of SLC, Test Captain Dinesh Chandimal, ODI and T20 skipper Lasith Malinga were present at the opening ceremony of the museum.
