The Executive Committee of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has agreed on the party's five-year economic plan today (Aug 27), political sources told Times Online.
The five-year plan is expected to be implemented should the SLFP be voted into power at the upcoming polls.
Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga too had attended the meeting which had been convened at the President's Secretariat.
During the discussion, SLFP leader President Maithripala Sirisena had said that he hopes to form the alliance with the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna next month.
Meanwhile, the new appointments made by the Central Committee to certain positions in the party had received the approval of the Executive Commitee during today's meeting.
The source added that the Executive Committee had agreed to inform the party's electoral organisers to rally supporters for the SLFP annual convention which is scheduled to be held on September 3.
