SLFP officially asks Ranil to step down as PM

News

The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) has conveyed to Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe, its decision to request the PM to step down from his post prior to the debate on the No-Confidence Motion against the Premier in Parliament tomorrow (4).

Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation, Nimal Siripala De Silva conveyed the SLFP Parliamentary Group's decision to the PM today.

However, the United National Party (UNP) has rejected the SLFP's request that the PM step down.

SLFP MPs have indicated that should the PM refuse to step down, the party would be forced to vote for the No-Confidence Motion submitted by the Joint Opposition (JO) against the PM.
