The fourth round of talks on the alliance between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will be held on May 09, SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
Speaking at a press briefing following the discussions, Mr. Jayasekara noted that the policy framework of the alliance would be based on 25 guidelines.
"During the third round of discussions we discussed only 20 points regarding our policy guidelines. However, this number has now gone upto 25. This enables us to prepare a strong policy in order to proceed with the talks on the alliance," he said.
The SLFP General Secretary also added that these guidelines would be discussed by the Central Working Committees of both parties in due course.
SLFP-SLPP to arrive at a decision on alliance today
The third round of talks on the proposed alliance between the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) is currently underway.
It is reported that the final decision pertaining to the alliance is to be made during today's discussion between both parties at the Opposition Leader's Office.
The decision taken at today's meeting will be conveyed to the leaders of both parties, political sources said adding that both parties will have separate discussions within their parties afterwards.
The constitution, executive committee, and the Chairman of the alliance are expected to be decided during today's meeting.
