The talks between Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) and United National Party (UNP) to form a national government have been finalsed today, UNP Chairman Malik Samarawickrama said in a statement. “ Continuing the promises given at the presidential elections in January and general elections this month the two main parties have agreed to work together for two years on a common platform,” it said. The final talks started following an agreement signed by the two parties soon after the Prime minister Ranil Wickremasinghe sworn in last week. Meanwhile the UNP chairman said a new cabinet will be swearing in on September 2, after the new parliament meet on September 1 for the first time.
