The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) is gearing up to revamp the party machinery from down to top to win the confidence of masses by giving grassroot level leadership for politically matured and well-disciplined youth, newly appointed general secretary to the party Prof. Rohana Laxman Piyadasa said on Monday.
Addressing the media at SLFP headquarters in Colombo after assuming office, he noted that re-organising the party would be done according to the party constitution and uniting all factions and members of the party including the Rajapaksa’s.
Prof. Rohana Laxman said that the party formed by the late Prime Minister S.W.R.D Bandaranaike following the footsteps of the late Anagārika Dharmapāla is now bearing fruits of his ideology of common man’s party.
People of all walks of life including clergy, professionals, farmers and workers will be rallied round the party by organising country-wide campaigns and awareness programmes
“If there are any differences among party members’ who were disheartened with the party, we will pay attention to rectify them during the re-organising processes and we hope to re- organize the party from the grassroots,” he said. (Bandula)
