The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) today (Dec 4) said it would inform the Election Commission on expelling parliamentarian Vijith Vijithamuni Soysa from the party.
This was after he had supported ruling party presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa at last month's presidential election.
Parliamentarians S.B. Dissanayake, and Lakshman Yapa Abeywardena are also facing expulsion for joining the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna without resigning from the SLFP, SLFP General Secretary Dayasiri Jayasekara said.
The SLFP politburo will meet next week and decide on disciplinary action to be taken against 35 local authority members who had not supported Gotabaya Rajapaksa during the presidential election, Jayasekara noted.
