The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) will be supportive of a new constitution instead of the proposed amendment to the Constitution, a senior member of the party said today.
Prof Rohana Luxman Piyadasa said that the MPs representing the party and other senior members were of the view that the constitution needs to be changed fully.
“The members believe that bringing amendments was not the solution”, he said.
The SLFP votes will be crucial for passing the 20th Amendment to the Constitution with a two thirds majority in Parliament.
