The Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) distributed nine luxury buses worth Rs 17.1 million each across all provinces today (Jun 27).
These buses had been imported using funds from China, a spokesman for the Transport Ministry told Times Online.
According to the Spokesman, the SLTB has planned to purchase a further 2000 luxury buses in future.
The buses would be equipped with latest facilities such as CCTV cameras, comfortable seating and also WiFi services.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Transport Minister Arjuna Ranatunga had attended the distribution event which was held at the Shalika Grounds in Narahenpitiya.
