A 30-year-old soldier was killed when his motorcycle ran off the road and struck a bridge at Ahangama this morning (24).
Police Media Unit said that the incident had occurred at about 6.00am today when the motorcyclist lost control of his bike Ahangama Kanda Bridge along the Galle-Matara Road, resulting in the motorbike veering to the right of the road and crashing into the bridge.
The victim was admitted to the Galle Karapitiya Hospital with serious injuries but succumbed soon after. He was identified as a soldier resident at Deiyandara, Sooriyawewa. The body is currently at the mortuary of the Karapitiya Hospital and Ahangama Police are conducting investigations.

A Sri Lanka Air Force Bell 212 helicopter belonging to the No. 72 squadron has crashed into the Madhuru Oya reservoir this morning, Air FOrce Media Spokesman Eranda Geeganage said.
Update: Five of the twelve passengers on board the bell 212 aircraft that crashed into the Maduru Oya today, have succumbed to their injuries, the SLAF said.
