South African President Cyril Ramaphosa touched down in Sri Lanka today (Jun 27) for a brief stopover on his way to the G-20 summit in Japan.
Ramaphosa had arrived with a 20-member delegation at around 10:20 am at the Bandaranaike International Airport. He was welcomed by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe and Minister Arjuna Ranatunga.
Matters concerning maritime navigation and peacekeeping in the Indian Ocean region had figured prominently during the brief meeting between both sides.
According to the Prime Minister's office, the South African President had inquired regarding the steps which the government had taken following the Easter Sunday attacks.
On the same lines, President Ramaphosa had also expressed his condolences towards the victims of the recent terrorist bombings.
The delegation had left the country at around 12:30 pm.
