There will be increased strong winds and heavy showers especially over the south-western parts of the country in the next few days, the Meteorology Department said.
Showers and windy condition is mainly due to fairly active south-west monsoon, the Department said adding that Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and, Galle and Matara districts will experience intermittent heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, showers or thunderstorms will also occur in Northern, Eastern and Uva provinces at night. Public is requested to take precautions to minimize damages from strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms.
