Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today (Apr 02) expressed regret over the manner in which certain parliamentarians had used profanity during a debate in the House.
The Speaker made this remark while referring to a heated exchange of words during the committee stage budget debate yesterday.
Mr. Jayasuriya, in a special address today told Parliament that such language should not be used since it would tarnish the reputation of the House.
Further, he emphasised that objections to certain remarks during parliamentary debates must be raised in an exemplary manner and not by using foul language.
