Speaker Karu Jayasuriya and President Maithripala Sirisena have agreed to stop summoning intelligence officers before the Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) probing the Easter Sunday attacks, sources told Times Online.
Earlier this month, the President had criticised the Committee for summoning intelligence officers and obtaining confidential intelligence information in the presence of the media.
This situation is believed to have escalated into the cancellation of last week's Cabinet meeting since Mr. Sirisena had announced that he would boycott cabinet meetings unless the PSC's sittings are suspended.
However, following an agreement which was reached between the Speaker and the President through a telephone call today, the President had stated that he would attend the next cabinet meeting, sources said.
The next cabinet meeting is expected to be held tomorrow (Jun 18).
