Speaker Karu Jayasuriya has signed the Local Government Elections (Amendment) Bill today.
The Bill was passed into law last Friday (25) and paves the way to hold Local Government elections under a mixed system. The new system is a hybrid of First-Past-The-Post (FPP) and Proportional Representation (PR) systems.
