Speaker Karu Jayasuriya walked out of Parliament chambers as tensions escalated during today's parliamentary session.
Pandemonium erupted when Chief Government whip Lakshman Kiriella requested that another No Confidence Motion vote be taken.
A group of MPs had attacked the Speaker by throwing a waste paper basket at him while also breaking his microphone and begun man handling the Speaker's files and hurling a book at him during the session.
Meanwhile MP Dilum Amunugama has been hospitalized following a hand injury that he sustained when he broke Speaker Karu Jayasuriya's microphone.
MPs Prasanna Ranaweera and Navin Dissanayake were reported to be among those who engaged in fisticuffs.
