Speaker Karu Jayasuriya today requested all MPs to cooperate to ensure the smooth implementation of Code of Conduct for Parliamentarians so as to maintain dignity and decorum of Parliament.
Presenting the final draft of the code of conduct for MPs, the Speaker said that it has been prepared with the opinions and suggestions from local and foreign experts.
“The code has been formulated with the intention of ensuring the protection of dignity and decorum of the House and to rebuild the public trust on MPs who would be required to maintain highest standards of conduct. The draft is now ready for the passing in parliament in a future date. This presentation of the draft could be considered a historic moment,” the speaker said.
