A special cabinet meeting is to be convened at 6 pm today (Sept 27) to discuss the ongoing railway strike, State Transport Minister Ashok Abeysinghe said.
The trade union action entered its second day today, with employees claiming that the government had not increased their salaries by Rs 3,000 as claimed by the Finance Ministry.
Against this backdrop, the Railways Department has said that eight office trains had been in operation today.
