The Special Investigations unit at the Police Headquarters has launched a probe into a letter sent by the Fort Superintendent on another impending attack.
Images of the letter circulating on social media showed that the police officer had written to some leading hotels calling for daily report of their check-in register.
The officer had said that intelligence officers have been informed of another terrorist attack similar to that on Easter Sunday, and that the Police has details of those individuals plotting the attack.
However, the Police Headquarters in a statement said that the details mentioned in the letter had not been confirmed by intelligence units.
Accordingly, Police Spokesman Ruwan Gunasekara said that an investigation would be carried out to determine whether the letter had been sent with the motive of creating disturbance in the country.
