Special security arrangements will be in effect from tonight in areas surrounding the Galle Face Green in lieu of the New Year celebrations, police said.
Officials at the Police Headquarters said the special arrangements were made owing to the high number of people who engage in New Year celebrations at the Galle Face green.
Meanwhile, the Police are taking added measures to prevent drunk driving offences.
