Sri Lanka Police today destroyed more than 900 kilograms of cocaine seized by the Narcotics Bureau during a raid in 2016.
The cocaine was disposed at a gathering in the presence of President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the INSEE Ecocycle, a waste management company in the Katunayake Investment Promotion Board, the company confirmed in a media release.
The cocaine stock, reported to be the largest cocaine haul seized from a container aboard a vessel that was on a voyage from Ecuador to Munrah Harbor in India via Colombo.
