Sri Lanka signs five MoUs with Philippines

Five MoUs were signed between Sri Lanka and Philippines yesterday (Jan 17) in a bid to uplift the defence, tourism, agricultural,  education and  technology sectors of both countries.

According to the President's Media Division, an MoU to increase the defence cooperation between the two countries, was signed by the Philippines National Security Department Secretary Delfin.N.Lorenzana and Sri Lankan foreign affairs foreign minister Thilak Marapana.

Minister Marapana also signed an MoU with Philippines Tourism Department Secretary Bernadette Romulo Puyat in a bid to enhace the cooperation of both nations in terms of tourism.

Further, Mr. Marapana signed a new MoU to uplift the agricultural co-operation between the two countries. The Assistant Secretary of the Philippines Department of Agriculture, Waldo Cerpro signed the agreement on behalf of Philippines.

In addition, Sri Lankan Ambassador to the Philippines, Aruni Ranaraja signed an MoU along with the Head of the Philippines Education Commission Prof. E.D.Vera to uplift education in both countries.

Meanwhile, another MoU was signed by the Sri Lankan Agricultural Research Policy Council and the University of Los Barnes of Philippines to enhance Agricultural Technology in both countries.

The objective of this memorandum is to widen opportunities for post graduate studies of the National Agricultural Research Institute. Sri Lankan Ambassador for Philippines Aruni Ranaraja and the Chancellor of University of Los Barnes of Philippines, Dr. Fernando. C. Sanchez signed this agreement.

The Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) were signed at the President's office in Philippines.
