President Maithripala Sirisena and Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have condoled over the passing of former Indian Foreign Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.
Issuing his condolence message, the President described Ms. Swaraj as a "true friend of Sri Lanka" who helped in strengthening ties between the two neighbouring countries.
Mr. Sirisena also observed that the late minister had "etched a remarkable stamp in politics and diplomcay" by reaching out to all people.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Wickremesinghe said that Ms. Swaraj had been a "true friend, neighbour, and relation of Sri Lanka".
The Prime Minister had noted that bilateral ties between Inda and Sri Lanka had achieved great heights during her tenure as Foreign Minister.
Swaraj passed away yesterday (Aug 7) due to a cardiac arrest.
