A crewmember attached to SriLankan Airlines has been arrested by Customs officers at the Arrival Lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning with gold jewelry worh Rs 26 million. The 50-year-old crewmember had arrived in the country at 4.00am today (19) on a flight from Jeddah.
The gold jewelry, weighing 5.3 kilograms, was found hidden in the suspect's person inside two specially made girdles and a belt worn in his leg, Customs Spokesman Sunil Jayaratne stated.
Further investigations are ongoing.
