SriLankan Airlines offers special flights to London, Tokyo, Melbourne and Hong Kong

News

SriLankan Airlines, considering the reopening of economic activity in the world followed by easing of some travel restrictions between countries, is offering flights to passengers who are eligible to travel  (under the respective country travel advisories) to London, Tokyo (Narita) Melbourne and Hong Kong and beyond.
Accordingly, passengers who wish to travel to these destinations or beyond can also now purchase their tickets through Sri Lankan offices or through your nearest travel agent, the national carrier said on Tuesday in a media release.
Currently most governments are allowing travelers stranded overseas to return to their countries subject to stipulated validity of the respective travel documentation and periods of quarantine. Commencing from May 13, SriLankan Airlines is now offering passengers to travel to London and beyond under this special travel scheme.

The airline will also operate Special Cargo Flights to 17 destinations, which are being operated to support Sri Lanka’s export industries during this time of crisis. These will include three weekly flights to Male; two flights a week to Chennai, Hong Kong, Singapore, London, Doha, Dubai, Melbourne, Beijing, Guangzhou (Canton), and Shanghai; and one weekly flight each to Mumbai, Karachi, Lahore, Dhaka, Frankfurt, and Tokyo (Narita).
The flights to London, Tokyo (Narita), Melbourne and Hong Kong will operate for both passengers and cargo.
“Passengers who wish to travel using these new flights are reminded that they should ensure that they are eligible to enter the respective countries depending on the restrictions imposed by regulatory authorities in each country. Passengers who intend to travel under this scheme are kindly requested to check from their respective boarder control or emigration authorities or contact their travel agents before purchasing any tickets,” the airline statement said.’
Tourism authorities said there are more than 10,000 tourists in Sri Lanka currently who are either stranded or didn’t want to return to their home countries which were in lockdown.
