A SriLankan Airlines employee has been fined Rs 1 million after he attempted to smuggle gold worth Rs 32 million into the country.
The employee, a 23-year old ground handling staff member, had concealed 40 gold bicuits by strapping it onto his legs, customs sources said.
Customs officials at the airport had confiscated the gold biscuits and had imposed a fine.
