State Minister of Defence Ruwan Wijewardene took oaths as the Acting Minister of Defence before President Maithripala Sirisena over the weekend, the government news portal reported,
President Sirisena left for United States to attend the 72nd UN General Assembly in New York is scheduled to address the gathering today.
State Minister Wijewardene will oversee duties as the acting Minister of Defence until the President returns from the US.
