The Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a suspect with two shotguns in his possession during a raid in Kirindiwela yesterday (22).
The STF said the suspect is a close associate of a organized criminal known as "Seethawaka Podda" who has been charged with illegal gem mining and murder.
The suspect has been handed over to the Kirindiwela police for further investigations.
Ajith Gallage, the owner of a Bird Park in Nagarawawa, Hambantota, has been remanded over allegations of concealing illegally imported motorcycles, in a warehouse owned by him.
The final rites of veteran broadcaster, writer, and lyricist Nirmala de Alwis will be held today at Peradeniya.
