Two persons have been arrested for operating an illegal petrol business in Udawalawe last night.
Special Task Force (STF) personnel had carried out the arrest and seized 57 cans containing 20 litres of petrol and 1440 litres of petrol in small bottles.
Investigations have revealed that the suspects had sold the petrol for an extremely higher value than the maximum retail price.
It is believed that the petrol had been obtained illegally by extracting it from vehicles and was adulterated before being sold by the suspects.
STF personnel are investigating further into the business.
