Stock of 'Johnny Mines' found in Vavuniya

A stock of 'Johnny Mines' used by the LTTE was recovered by police at Vettiyamurippu in Adampan, Vavuniya. Police said the Special Branch of the Vavuniya police had received a tip-off stating that a stock of Johnny Mines were in the area and had recovered the mines after conducting a search. 

Seven mines were recovered during the search operation. It is suspected they were buried in the area during the period of the war. 

As the mines were deemed to be unusable, a court order will be obtained to dispose of them, Adampan Police stated.
