Several animals which were left stranded following the flooding of a forest reserve have been rescued over the last few days.
The forest reserve was inundated following the filling up of the Yan Oya.
The rescue operation headed by Anuradhapura Police Superintendent Thilina Hewavitharana comprised officials from the Wildlife Division and life guards.
Wildlife officers noted that measures were taken to transfer hundreds of small animals to another forest reserve.
However, they said that the wild animals were still to be rescued.
