A 15-year-old student and his mother were arrested over a fatal accident in Dematagoda over the weekend, which resulted in the death of a woman and her 10-year-old daughter.
The mother ands son were remanded after being produced at court yesterday. The teenager was remanded till January 29 while his mother was remanded till January 25 by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The fatal accident had occurred at around 8.50pm on Saturday at a pedestrian crossing on Baseline Road near the Dematagoda railway ground.
Police said the 47-year-old woman and her daughter were rushed to the Colombo National Hospital in critical condition, however they succumbed to injuries after being admitted.
