A sub-inspector was killed and two officers injured, when unidentified gunmen fired at them at Kurunegala this morning, Police said.
The policemen were in a patrol car and had stopped a speeding van for inspection in Maspotha, Kurunegala, when they were shot at by the gunmen inside the van. The injured policemen were taken to the Kurunegala Hospital.
Kurunegala Police is investigating.
