Supplementary estimate to be submitted for first quarter of 2020
A supplementary estimate is to be presented to Parliament for the government's expenditure during the first four months of next year.
Finance Minister Mangala Samaraweera's cabinet paper to this effect had been approved during the cabinet meeting yesterday (Aug 13).
Mr Samaraweea had pointed out that this would allow the new government to prepare next year's budget in keeping with their policies and principles.
A presidential election is expected to be held at the end of this year.
