The Supreme Court yesterday granted leave to proceed with a Fundamental Rights petition filed by State Minister Sujeewa Senasinghe against a police officer over an alleged incident which took place in Athurugiya during the recent general election campaign. Senasinghe recently filed a fundamental rights petition in court seeking an order directing the police to take disciplinary action against a sergeant who allegedly blocked a truck that was being used in campaign.
The Supreme Court also issued an order staying the operation of magisterial inquiry against Senasinghe until the Attorney General inquired into the matter.You can share this post!
