The supreme court issued an interim order preventing the arrest of Former Defense Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa. The order was issued when a Fundamental rights petition was filed with the Supreme Court citing an attempt to apprehend him. The FR petition was scheduled to be taken up before the bench comprising of justices Sarath De Abrew, Eva Wanasundara and Bhuwaneka Aluvihare. But justice Aluvihare stepped down from the bench citing personal reasons. Thereby the FR petition filed by Gotabaya Rajapaksa was taken up before Justices Sarath De Abrew and Eva Wanasundara.

A Sri Lankan man was apprehended at Suvarnabhumi airport for attempting to smuggle wildlife out of the country after three ball pythons were found hidden in his underwear, the Bangkok post reported.
