A suspect was arrested for attempting to bribe the OIC of the Welikada Police yesterday (Feb 25).
The suspect had attempted to bribe the police officer in order to release five individuals who have been arrested for vandalising a property in Nawala.
Police said that the suspect who was identified as a resident of Rukmalgama had attempted to provide a sum of Rs 25,000 as a bribe.
A director of a tar importing company is also among the five suspects, police spokesman S.P. Ruwan Gunasekara said.
