Suspect arrested in Rs 50 million job scam

An individual who allegedly defrauded close to Rs 50 million by claiming to be able to provide jobs overseas has been arrested by the Panadura Police. 

The suspect had allegedly defrauded cash as well as vehicles obtained on lease from victims after promising to provide overseas jobs for them. Investigations have revealed that he had defrauded victims in Panadura, Bandaragama, Mathugama, Kalutara, Elpitiya, Matara and Rambukkana. 

The suspect has been identified as Mudalige Don Samantha alias 'Ithali Saman,' a resident of Pinwatta, Panadura. He is due to be produced before the Panadura Magistrate's Court today (11). 

Police have also recovered four cars and a jeep that he had obtained via lease and subsequently defrauded. Panadura South Police are conducting further investigations.
