A suspect who was arrested over a narcotic offence has died in hospital after falling ill in remand custody.
The suspect had been arrested with one gram of a narcotic named 'Ice' in Wellampitiya yesterday (Jun 15), police said.
He had fallen ill while in remand custody of the Police Crimes Division.
According to the police, the suspect had told a police officer that he had consumed a similar narcotic drug prior to his arrest.
The suspect had then been admitted to the Colombo General Hospital following which he had died.
