A suspect has been arrested with three rifles without a valid license in the Kabulumulla area in Yatiyanthota today (Mar 11), police said.
The arrest was set in motion upon a tip-off received by the police regarding the location of the suspect.
The suspect, a 63-year old, was ordered to be remanded until tomorrow when he was produced before the Ruwanwella courts today.
The judge had also instructed the police to uncover more details regarding the grounds on which the suspect had these guns in his possession and the source from which he had obtained these firearms.
Accordingly, Yatiyanthota police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
