A person who was arrested with live ammunition, weapons, and a small quantity of heroin in Eravur has been remanded until April 10.
The suspect was arrested at around 2:30 pm in Chenkalady, Batticaloa last Saturday, Police Spokesman S.P Ruwan Gunasekara said.
A live hand grenade, nine T-56 bullets, three swords and 80 milligrams of heroin were seized from the possession of the suspect during a raid.
Police have identified the suspect as 25-year old Mohanadas Jayakanth, a resident of Morakotanchanai in Batticaloa.
He was produced before the Eravur Magistrates Court today (Mar 31).
