Suspect wanted for vehicle robberies, murder arrested

An individual wanted in connection with a murder and several vehicle robberies has been arrested by officers from the Mirihana Anti-Vice Squad. 

The suspect was taken into custody yesterday (12). Police Media Unit stated that the suspect was wanted in connection with the robbery of several trishaws and motorbikes in Mulleriyawa, Gothatuwa, Welikada, Nawagamuwa and Maharagama. He is also alleged to have hacked an individual to death in Meegahawatta. 

The 20-year-old suspect is a resident of Kaduwela. Based on information provided by him, police also recovered two trishaws and two motorbikes, six live rounds of T56 ammunition and a manna knife. 

The suspect is due to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate's Court today (13). The Mirihana Anti-Vice Squad is conducting investigations.
